Documented by VarietyVista with die marker codes UVC-2803 and DMR-011, this 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Cent DDR-009 exhibits a strong spread to the northeast manifesting as an extra partial upper window sill west of the fourth column on the Professional Life in Illinois reverse design — a localized but visually striking doubling feature where the hub displacement created a secondary architectural element within the Old State Capitol building depicted on this reverse. Three die stages document the working die’s progression: Stage A confirms both reverse and obverse at early die state (EDS); Stage B reaches mid-die state (MDS) with a large die break developing in the far right windows of the building, die cracks appearing on the forehead, and die cracks in Lincoln’s hair; Stage C is late die state (LDS, unconfirmed). The dramatic progression from clean EDS to a large die break in the windows during Stage B indicates this die experienced significant structural failure during its mid-life service, with the building’s window recesses creating stress concentration points where fractures developed under repeated striking loads.
