2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Professional Life - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-2009-02

Description

ADC-1c-2009(PL)-02 is an atypical die clash on a 2009-P Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Professional Life reverse, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It is the second of two look-alike Professional Life clashed die pairs from Philadelphia, and MDC notes that neither is as strongly clashed as the 2009-D Professional Life clashed dies. To separate the two Philadelphia dies, check under the chin and on Abe's upper lip: die 01 has deep window marks below the chin that read almost like more beard, while die 02 has windows clashed onto the upper lip, which thickens the mustache. Die 01 has no clash marks and no abrasion lines on its reverse. Die 02 shows both, though its abrasion lines may date from an earlier clash rather than this one. The reverse of die 02 also has a long crack, plus a die break on Lincoln's head and shoulder; that crack, the abrasion lines and where the clash marks fall together identify this die.
