2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-019

Description

2009 FY WDDO-019 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Formative Years reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. The beard details, the date and LIBERTY show light extra thickness, with light notches at the upper left of the ERTY in LIBERTY. Obverse, Stage A: a scratch heading NE from between the lips; a short scratch heading ENE away from the bowtie's right side; a scratch joining the lower L and I of LIBERTY; and a light crack SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head. Stage B: the hair crack is longer, with a small chip at its upper end; a crack heads NW through the eyebrow and into the forehead; and another crack, NNW to SSE through the upper front of the forehead, carries a large pre-die chip depression. Reverse, Stage A: a scratch heading east from the lower right of the E in ONE to the right arm; a scratch heading SSW from the lower right of the T in CENT; and a crack along the bottom of the left boot. Stage B: a chip at the right end of that boot crack; a chip on the lower left of the E in CENT; and a crack running WSW to ENE through the mallet head. Brian Ribar submitted the variety.
