2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-017

Description

2009 FY WDDO-017 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Formative Years reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. Light extra thickness shows on the date, the beard, the lower part of the hair and LIBERTY, with light notching at the upper left of the ERTY of LIBERTY. Obverse markers: two short parallel scratches heading NE from the Y in LIBERTY, at its top; a scratch running SW to NE from above the E; a small chip on the collar ESE of the Y, with a scratch running NE through the collar from that chip; a crack SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head; a crack NW from the eyebrow into the forehead; and a crack along the bottom of the bowtie that then turns south into the vest. Reverse markers: a short vertical gouge at the rim just right of the second A in AMERICA; a small gouge under the N of CENT; a small chip on the E of CENT, low on the letter; a light scratch heading NE from the center right of the S in PLURIBUS; a crack crossing the mallet head's left side from NE to SW and continuing to the rim; and a crack down the upper left arm.
