2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-014

Description

2009 FY WDDO-014 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Formative Years reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. Light extra thickness shows on the beard, on the lower part of the hair and on LIBERTY, with light notching at the upper left of LIBERTY's letters. Obverse, Stage A: a scratch heading ENE from the top of the T in LIBERTY. Stage B: a small gouge right of the bottom of the second zero; a pre-die crack depression running SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head; and a crack NW from the eyebrow into the forehead. Stage C: small gouges (dots) south of the 2 and well below the two zeros, between them, and a crack running SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head. Stage D: that hair crack now reaches the lower left of the W in WE. Wexler notes that the reverse of this variety is itself a doubled die, 2009 FY WDDR-064, with a reverse stage matching each obverse stage: WDDR-064A, WDDR-064B, WDDR-064C and WDDR-064D for Stages A to D.
