2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-013

Description

2009 FY WDDO-013 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Formative Years reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. Light extra thickness shows on the beard, on the lower part of the hair and on LIBERTY, with light notching at the lower left of LIBERTY's letters. Wexler records six stages. Obverse, Stage A: a short vertical scratch left of the R in TRUST, near its base; a scratch from the upper right of that R to the rim; a scratch heading SW from the lower left of the T in LIBERTY; and a pre-die crack depression running NNW through the eyebrow. Stage B: a small gouge (dot) by the rim, between TRUST's T and R; a crack NNW from the eyebrow into the forehead; and a crack crossing the bowtie's left side from NE to SW. Stage C: a long crack SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head. Stage D: small chips along that long hair crack, and a crack NE to SW through the beard. Stage E matches Stage D, and Stage F matches Stage E. Reverse, Stage A: a scratch heading SW from the rim between the F of OF and the first A of AMERICA, and a small pre-die chip depression on the left shoulder. Stage B matches Stage A. Stage C: a short crack curving north from the O of ONE at its top; a pre-die chip depression on the top right of its N; a crack on the log's right end just above center; a crack down the middle of the lower left boot; and a crack down the left sleeve (rolled up) and the upper left arm. Stage D: the N of ONE now has a chip at its top right, and a pre-die chip depression sits on the C in CENT, on its left side. Stage E: a small chip on the left shoulder.
