2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

2009 FY WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Formative Years reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra thickness shows on the beard, on the lower part of the hair and on LIBERTY, whose letters are lightly notched at their lower left. Obverse, Stage A: a small gouge touching the lower right of the E in LIBERTY; scratches heading SSE from the bottom of the ear; and a crack heading NW through the eyebrow. Stage B: the eyebrow crack now reaches well into the forehead, and a second crack runs alongside it, parallel and to its left; another crack crosses the front of the beard from NE to SW. Stage C: a SW to NE crack crosses the hair at the upper back of the head and stops below the W of WE. On the Stage A reverse, a short curving scratch in the field right of the upper left boot, and a short scratch below the U and S of PLURIBUS, between them. Stage B: a large chip on the upper left of the C in CENT; a chip on the left shoulder; a scratch joining the centers of the T and E in STATES; a crack going north from the O of ONE at its top; and at the N of ONE, short cracks going north from its top left and NE from its top right; a crack down the upper left arm; and a pre-die crack depression through the lower left boot. Stage C: a short crack going north from the C of CENT at its top, a crack heading SSW from the middle of the log's left end, and a light crack down the middle of the right boot.
