Ninth doubled die obverse cataloged by VarietyVista for the 2009 Philadelphia Lincoln Cent Formative Years design, DDO-009 delivers strong extra thickness on LIBERTY, lower hair, beard, and date, with distinctive notches on the upper right letters of LIBERTY — a serrated effect along letter edges created by hub displacement. Documented under UVC-2728 and DMR-078, multiple die stages record progressive failure: a crack on the forehead, a die break next to hair under W of WE, a crack down the instep of the left boot, and a crack across the mallet to the rim. The Formative Years reverse — second of four 2009 Bicentennial designs — depicts young Abraham Lincoln seated on a log reading, with rail-splitting tools nearby.
