Documented by VarietyVista with catalog code UVC-2730 and die marriage reference DMR-020, the 2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-017 Lincoln Bicentennial Cent presents a medium spread south that manifests as an extra partial log end on log number 9 counted from the bottom of the log cabin depicted on the reverse — a very specific, localized doubling feature that adds a phantom log end to the cabin structure. The die state progression is particularly well-documented across four stages: Stage A is early die state (unconfirmed); Stage B shows an early mid-die-state with a light die crack extending west from the JL designer's initials and a die crack on Lincoln's forehead; Stage C is mid-die-state (unconfirmed); Stage D is late die state (unconfirmed). The forehead die crack in Stage B provides a convenient obverse attribution marker visible even without examining the subtle reverse doubling.
