2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

2009 EC WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling appears as notches on the upper left of the ERTY of LIBERTY and as extra thickness on the details of the lower hair and the beard. Obverse markers: a scratch heading SSE from the upper left of the T in LIBERTY; NNW-to-SSE scratches on the inside right of both zeros of the date; a pre-die crack depression crossing the hair high on the back of the head from SW to NE; a pre-die crack depression crossing the eyebrow toward the NW and into the forehead; and a pre-die crack depression running SE to NW across the upper front of the forehead. On the reverse, a scratch runs SSW from the rim, right of the D in UNITED. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
