2009 (P) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

2009 EC WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling appears as notches on the upper left of the ERTY of LIBERTY. Obverse markers: a scratch running SW to NE below the Y of LIBERTY and to its right; a SW-to-NE crack crossing the vest's upper back, right of that Y; a SW-to-NE crack in the back hair of the head that meets a second crack curving SSE down from the top of the head; a crack crossing the eyebrow toward the NW and into the forehead, with a small die chip at its upper end; a crack running SE to NW across the upper front of the forehead; a NW-to-SE crack on the upper cheek under the eye; a NW-to-SE crack on the lower nose with a branch reaching WSW; an ENE-to-WSW crack through the beard; and an ENE-to-WSW crack through the bowtie that then curves south into the vest. Wexler notes that the reverse of this variety is itself a doubled die, listed as 2009 EC WDDR-049. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CDDO-002.
