Description

The 2009-P Lincoln Cent Early Childhood DDR-009 is a dramatic doubled die reverse variety from the Lincoln Bicentennial series, cataloged with die markers UVC-2713 and DMR-011 across four die stages. Richard Masters's Early Childhood design depicts young Lincoln reading before a log cabin, and on DDR-009 a very strong southeast spread produces extra partial log ends on logs 10, 11, 12, and 13 counting from the cabin's base — a precise and visually clear set of doubling targets on well-struck examples. Stage A is early die state but unconfirmed. Stage B adds a light die crack west from the J of the JL designer's initials, a die crack on the forehead, and a die crack in the back of the hair — this early mid-die state is the first confirmed stage. Stage C is mid-die state and Stage D is late die state, both unconfirmed. The Stage B forehead and hair cracks are accessible attribution anchors on circulated examples where log-end doubling is subtle. The 2009 Early Childhood cent is a single-year design replacing a fifty-year reverse, making DDR-009 among the most substantive doubled die varieties in this limited production run.
