2009 (D) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

2009-D EC WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on a 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. A single cheek line is doubled, slightly rotated, just left of where the nose ends at the bottom. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) sits just over the head, between the W and E of WE at their bases, and a crack runs NW through the eyebrow and far into the forehead. On the reverse there are small gouges (dots) inside the lower N and inside the lower E of UNITED, a small gouge under the right side of the second A in AMERICA, and a short crack running SE from the lower M of the RM initials. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
