Description
On 2008D(HI)-25DER-001T, a 2008 Denver quarter of the Hawaii design, trails show at the first A in HAWAII, the 5 of 1959 and the state motto. They point at 330°, north-northwest, up and to the left. TrailDies' code sets out the date with its D mint mark and the HI tag for Hawaii, followed by 25-DER, a quarter reverse with a design extension, and 001T, the file and trail type. No die markers are recorded on either side, so the three trail spots are what identify it. Steven Bernatowski found the die. Most specialists put trails like these down to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
