Description
The 2006 (P) North Dakota State Quarter represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 305,800,000 North Dakota quarters dated 2006. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order the states ratified the Constitution or joined the Union. The reverse depicts two American bison grazing with a sunset view of the rugged Badlands buttes and canyons in the background, capturing the untamed beauty of North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park region. The 2006 quarters honored, in release order, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $3 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #39026.
