2006 (P) Colorado State Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

2006-P CO WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 2006-P Colorado state quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the earlobe's underside. Obverse Stage A: a thin crack through the upper part of the designer's initials; a small gouge touching the back of the year; a gouge under the chin; several gouges between the R and T of LIBERTY; a gouge over the B of LIBERTY; a gouge right of the P mintmark; and a small gouge left of the U of UNITED, low down. On Stage B, cracks and chips run from the lips down the profile to beneath the chin, a chip sits at the back of the lips, several chips mark the left cheek SE of the eye, and a chip lies on the bust's front point. Reverse Stage A: a small chip on the mountain top under the 87 of 1876; a thin NW/SE scratch through the UR of PLURIBUS; two east-west scratches between the bases of the D and O in COLORADO; and gouges left of the 1 of 1876 and left of the P of PLURIBUS. On Stage B, a gouge runs WNW-ESE through the second O and the R of COLORFUL, a large chip sits on top of the 6 in 2006, and a crack curves NE from the top of that 6 to the lower right of the L in COLORADO, then bends ENE through the second O of COLORADO. James Cassin submitted Stage A and Shawn Bell submitted Stage B. Crawford lists it as CDDO-001.
