Description
2006D-1DER-012T has trails from the tops of the motto letters and slight traces from the upper left of the Memorial's columns, all heading 330°, north-northwest, up and to the left. The number is TrailDies' shorthand for a 2006 Denver cent, a reverse design extension, file 012, trail type. TrailDies' coin is late, stage C: the obverse has many small die dents, and the reverse two gouges just left of UNITED's U. Cal Goddard found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the usual explanation for trails; a minority prefers the idea that the die moved against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – many small die dents are seen on the obverse die.
- Reverse is LDS – two die gouges are seen to the left of the U in UNITED.
