2006 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-011T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on 2006D-1DER-011T come off the bottoms of the motto letters and the word OF, and TrailDies gives their offset direction as 100°, just south of due east, toward the right edge. The number identifies a 2006 Denver one-cent piece, DER for TrailDies' reverse design extension, file 011 and T for trails. The obverse of the coin described is very late in its life, with a small dot in the open field just ahead of Lincoln's brow and damage above and to the right of V.D.B.; the reverse, at a middle state, has a gouge left of the O in ONE. George Finster found the die. The trails are generally attributed to polishing of the die with a rotary tool, though some see die-to-hub movement as the cause.

• Stage “B “, obverse is VLDS – a small die dot is seen in the field in front of Lincoln’s brow. Die damage is seen above and to the right of the V.D.B.
• Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to the left of the O in ONE.
