2006 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-010T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2006D-1DER-010T is described by TrailDies in the same terms as its 009 file: trails in two directions on the reverse. One group, at 350°, a little west of north, starts at the cornice, at UNIT in UNITED and at the top left corners of the motto letters; the other, at 060°, east-northeast, starts at the top right corners of the motto letters. The code means 2006, Denver, one cent, reverse design extension, file 010, trails. The die markers are what tell it apart from 009: at stage B there is a dot above the M of UNUM and another to the motto's left on the reverse, while the obverse has a small dot under the first zero of the date. Jean Lee found the die. Polishing with a rotary buff is the common explanation for the lines, though a minority links them to the die moving against the hub.
