2006 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-002T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Faint trails hang below the URI of PLURIBUS and below UNUM on 2006D-1DER-002T, running at 160°, south-southeast, down the coin and slightly right. TrailDies' number marks a 2006 Denver cent (2006D, 1) whose reverse (DER) shows a design extension; 002 is the file and T the trail type. For the middle die state, stage B, it notes two small gouges under the date's first 0 on the obverse and a small gouge inside the lower triangle of ONE's N on the reverse. Jeremy Gardner of Kentucky found the die. Rotary polishing of the die is the explanation usually given for trails; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
