2006 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

TrailDies calls 2006D-1DER-001WS unusual because its strength sits entirely on the right side of the Memorial. Several fluting lines per column reach moderately down into the stylobate below the three right-hand columns, 10 to 12, with a fainter one under column 9, while the stairs show only a very faint ripple, under column 8. Direction: 180°, due south. TrailDies' number joins 2006D (year and Denver mint), 1 (cent), DER (design extension, reverse), file 001 and WS for wavy steps, its term for trails crossing the stairs so the steps look bent. On TrailDies' stage B coin, the cornice above column 5 is damaged and a dot sits in the upper left of bay 10. Most put lines like these down to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some point to the die moving against the hub.
