2006 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2006D-1DEO-001T is a Denver obverse; TrailDies writes the year and D, then 1 for the denomination, DEO for its obverse design extension group, the file number 001 and T for trails. The trails rise from the tops of L, I, B, E and R in LIBERTY and point at 350°, nearly straight up, just west of north. At the middle die state TrailDies describes (stage B), a small gouge lies between the U and S of TRUST, and on the reverse small dimples sit beneath the letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM. Cal Goddard found the die. Most specialists attribute trails to the die being polished with a rotary buff; a minority sees them as a sign of the die moving against the hub.
