2004 (P) Texas State Quarter - P(TX)-25DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Faint trails rise from the tops of the letters in IN GOD WE TRUST on 2004P(TX)-25DEO-001T and lean north-northeast, at 030°. The number is TrailDies' label for a 2004 Philadelphia quarter (25) of the Texas design (TX), (DEO, an obverse design extension), file 001 and type T. Because the lines are faint, the die markers help confirm it. The middle-die-state coin TrailDies describes has a crack in the base of Washington's bust that runs partway into the field, and its reverse has a dent in the field just right of the star's upper right arm. Such trails are normally blamed on the die being polished with a rotary buff; a minority view links them to the die moving on the hub.
