Description
The 2004 (P) Texas State Quarter is a quarter produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 278.8 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 12 variants, accounting for 10% of the year's production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse features a large lone star superimposed on the state outline, surrounded by a lariat rope border. The lone star represents the Republic of Texas's independent spirit, harking back to when Texas was a sovereign nation before joining the Union in 1845. Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The 2004-D Wisconsin "Extra Leaf" varieties (High Leaf and Low Leaf) became the most famous State Quarter errors. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
