2004 (P) Roosevelt Dime - P-10DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 2004P-10DER-001T, a 2004 Philadelphia Roosevelt dime reverse, trails rise from the tops of E PLURIBUS UNUM and from the tips of the torch flames, with lighter lines off the olive leaves. All run at 005°, barely east of due north. The file number means 2004 and P, a 10-cent piece, the reverse (DER) and file 001 of the trail (T) kind. TrailDies notes the die turns up in Mint Sets. The stage B coin it describes has a die crack across the top of Roosevelt's head, and no reverse markers are given. George dePozsgay found it. Polishing of the die with a rotary tool is the familiar explanation for trails, with die-against-hub movement the minority view.
