Description
2004D(IA)-25DER-001T is a 2004 Denver quarter with the Iowa state design, and TrailDies lists its reverse with the trail dies. The code puts the date and D mint first and the Iowa tag (IA) next; 25 names the quarter, DER flags a reverse design extension, and 001T means file 001, trail type. Lines come off the word IOWA, the words FOUNDATION IN, and the spire at the top of the dome, all pointing at 010°, a hair east of straight up. No markers turn up on either side of this early-die-state coin. Michael Taylor Sr. found the die. The common view is that a rotary buff used to polish the die drew these lines out; another view credits die movement against the hub.
