2001 (P) Roosevelt Dime - Type I Counter Clash CCLTI-10C-2001-01
Error
Description
CCL(TI)-10c-2001-01 is a Type I counter clash on a 2001-P Roosevelt dime, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The dies clashed at least twice, with the first clash offset from the other, and that offset allowed a counter clash to form. The coin was also struck outside the collar, so it carries two errors. MDC provides two overlays of the die positions at the clashes. Fred Weinberg of Fred Weinberg & Co. provided the coin. On the obverse, parts of the olive branch are clashed into and ahead of Roosevelt's nose and forehead, and the torch flames show under his chin. On the reverse, the counter clash shows as a second copy of the top oak leaf, left of the original (marked with a white arrow): the leaf's design went first to the obverse and from there back onto the reverse die, and MDC also shows the spacing between the two clashes there. Roosevelt's forehead and his hairline's start left clash marks on the reverse, and the stem shows a counter clash.
