2001 (P) Roosevelt Dime - Atypical Die Clash ADC-10C-2001-01

Description

ADC-10c-2001-01 is an atypical die clash on a 2001-P Roosevelt dime, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The coin is broadstruck (struck outside the collar) and shows three closely spaced sets of clash marks, which MDC suggests may have come from a single clash with die chatter, a loose die giving an effect like machine doubling. On the obverse, NE of ONE left marks by the Y of LIBERTY, PL of PLURIBUS by Roosevelt's eyebrow, and the olive branch on and around his nose. The three sets are hard to see at normal view but separate clearly in a close-up of that area. The torch's flame left a mark by Roosevelt's Adam's apple. The broadstrike has distorted the N of IN GOD so that it looks like an R. Fred Weinberg of Fred Weinberg & Co. supplied the coin.
