2001 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2001D-1DEO-001T is a Denver 2001 Lincoln cent obverse with trails. The code gives the year and D mint mark, then the cent's 1, DEO to show the obverse carries the extension, file 001 and T. Light to moderate lines leave the upper left corners of the LIBERTY letters and point to 330°, north-northwest, up and to the left. Nothing marks the obverse of the middle-die-state coin; the reverse has two small gouges in the space from UNITED's U to the first column, a third inside that U, and a die dot inside the last A of AMERICA. Jeremy Gardner found it. Polishing of the die by a rotary tool is the familiar account of trails; some prefer the die moving against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.
• Reverse is MDS – two small die gouges in between the U of UNITED and the first column. A small die gouge is seen on the inside of the U in UNITED.  A small die dot is seen inside the last A of AMERICA.
