Description
Light trails on 1995P-1DER-026T leave the inner letters of the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the E in both ONE and CENT, heading southeast at 130°, down and to the right. Its number places it in TrailDies' list of 1995 Philadelphia cent reverses with design extensions (1995P-1DER) as file 026, with T for trails. Like 1995P-1DER-025T, also found by Louis Schaeffer of Maryland, this middle-die-state reverse has three small die dots at the left edge of the stylobate; the direction of the trails and a small gouge beneath the C of AMERICA tell the two apart. Trails are mostly thought to come from polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some think the die moved against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.
- Reverse is MDS – three small die dots in and around the left edge of the stylobate. Small die is seen gouge under the C of AMERICA.
