Description
Trails on 1995P-1DER-025T come from UNITED and from both words at the bottom, ONE and CENT, and they slant at 250°, west-southwest, down and to the left. The number decodes as a 1995 cent from Philadelphia (1995P, 1), with DER for a reverse design extension, 025 for the file and T for trails. TrailDies' coin is from the middle of the die's life; three small die dots on the left of the stylobate and old scratches across OF and the A of AMERICA help identify it. Louis Schaeffer of Maryland found it. A rotary polishing tool working the die is the standard explanation for trails; some prefer movement of the die against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.
- Reverse is MDS – three small die dots on the left side of the stylobate. Old die scratches through OF and the A of AMERICA.
