1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-010WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 1995P-1DER-010WS the stairway under columns 5 through 8 bends lightly, more so on the left, as trails run down across the steps at 180°, due south. The parts of the code are the date with its P mint letter, the cent's 1, DER for the reverse-side design extension, file 010 and WS for wavy steps. Its markers set this die apart from its neighbors. On the middle-die-state reverse described, a crack with a retained break sits in the cornice above column 4, a second crack runs from the top of column 5 into the cornice above column 6, and clash marks show low in bay 9. Trails are usually linked to polishing of the die with a rotary buff; a minority links them to the die moving against the hub.

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted
• Reverse is MDS – die crack with retained die break in the cornice above column 4. Die crack from the top of column 5 and into the cornice above column 6. A die clash is seen in the lower part of bay 9.
