1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-008WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Under columns 2 and 3 on 1995P-1DER-008WS, light fluting lines reach down into the stylobate, and the steps below columns 5 to 8 show a light ripple, both at 180°, pointing due south. That ripple is what TrailDies means by wavy steps: trails crossing the Memorial's stairway. The number lays out a Philadelphia date of 1995, a one-cent denomination, a design extension on the reverse side (DER), and file 008 of the WS type. Heavy die scratches circle the O of ONE on the middle-die-state reverse it describes, with one more inside the C of CENT; the obverse has nothing noted. Most specialists blame trails on die polishing with a rotary tool; others attribute them to movement between die and hub.
