1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-004WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Moderate effects run across the whole base of the Memorial on 1995P-1DER-004WS. The stairs under columns 5 through 8 ripple, the fluting of columns 2, 3, 11 and 12 extends into the stylobate, and the stylobate's left corners carry short extensions too, all at 190°, slightly west of south. The number puts 1995 and P first, then the 1 for a cent and DER for a reverse design extension; 004 is the file, and WS names the wavy steps, trails that bend the stairs. TrailDies records two die states. At the middle stage, three gouges ring the O of ONE and three more surround the FG initials; by the late stage a die dot also sits inside the C of AMERICA. Rotary polishing of the die is the standard explanation for the bent steps, while some prefer die-to-hub movement.
