1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-002WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 1995P-1DER-002WS the stairs below the four central columns, 5 through 8, have a light waviness, the result of trails running down across the steps. In TrailDies' shorthand, 1995P is year and mint, the single 1 is the denomination, DER means the extension is on the reverse side, 002 is the file and WS the wavy-step tag. The direction is 180°, straight down toward the bottom of the coin. A middle die state is described: look for a gouge beneath the G of GOD on the obverse and a small one under the U of UNITED on the reverse. Those two markers are what separate it from the other light 1995-P wavy-step dies. Bent steps of this sort are usually put down to die polishing with a rotary tool, with die-to-hub movement as the alternative some favor.
