1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse
Error
Description
Light wavy steps appear on 1995P-1DER-001WS, file 001 among TrailDies' 1995 Philadelphia cent reverses of this kind. The steps of the Memorial bend slightly where trails cross them under columns 5 through 8, and the fluting of columns 2 and 3 runs lightly down into the stylobate, the platform the columns stand on. The offset direction is 200°, south-southwest. The prefix 1995P-1 says Philadelphia, 1995, one cent; DER says the design extension is on the reverse; 001WS is the file plus the wavy-step suffix. TrailDies' coin is late in the die's life: two gouges lie below the I of IN on the obverse and two more above the left tip of the base on the reverse. The steps' waviness is generally credited to rotary polishing of the die, though a minority credits movement of the die against the hub.
