1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-012T Trail Die Obverse
Error
Description
This 1995 Philadelphia cent obverse, TrailDies number 1995P-1DEO-012T, shows trails leaving the digits of the date and the TY of LIBERTY, with faint ones from Lincoln's beard as well. All point at 150°, south-southeast, down and slightly right. In the code, 1995P is the date with the P mint, 1 means cent, DEO marks an obverse design extension, 012 is the file and T stands for trails. The coin described is at a late die state with a gouge in the center of the U in TRUST; its reverse is the die TrailDies lists as 1995P-1DER-042. John Rosenberg found it. The common explanation is a rotary buff used to polish the die face, while some writers point instead to the die moving against the hub.
