1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-009T Trail Die Obverse

Description

1995P-1DEO-009T has trails in two opposite directions, 130° (southeast, down and right) and 310° (northwest, up and left), both coming from the Y of LIBERTY and from the 19 that opens the date. TrailDies' file code gives 1995P for the year and Philadelphia mint, 1 for the cent, DEO for an obverse design extension, 009 as the file number and T for trails. Jason Dick is credited with the find. At stage B, midway through the die's life, scratches lie between Lincoln's nose and chin, and the reverse has a crack that starts at the top of column 5 and passes the two dots in E PLURIBUS UNUM and the A of STATES before reaching the rim. As for cause, polishing the die with a spinning buff is the standard answer, and movement of the die against the hub the alternative.
