1995 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-008T Trail Die Obverse

Description

On 1995P-1DEO-008T the trails reach well beyond the lettering: TrailDies traces them from TRUST, from Lincoln's lips, beard and bow tie, from all four digits of the date and from the R of LIBERTY. Their offset direction is 140°, southeast, down and to the right. 1995P is the year with Philadelphia's P, 1 means cent, DEO marks a design extension on the obverse, 008 is the file, and T is for trails. On the stage B coin described, the obverse has no markers; the reverse has a crack in the right side of the Memorial's steps and a chip low on column 12. Jeremy Gardner found it. Trails are normally put down to the die being polished with a rotary buff, though some credit the die moving against the hub.
