Description

Moderate trails come off the upper left corners of the letters in LIBERTY on 1995P-1DEO-005T, heading 340°, north-northwest, toward the top of the coin and a little to the left. Its file number pairs 1995P, a Philadelphia striking of that year, with 1 for the cent; DEO says the extension is on the obverse, 005 is the file, and the closing T stands for trails. The coin TrailDies describes comes from the middle of the die pair's life (stage B), and neither side has a die marker listed, so the direction and the corner-of-letter placement are what set this die apart from the other 1995 Philadelphia obverses in the files. Rotary polishing of the die is the explanation usually given for trails, while some prefer die movement against the hub.
