Error
Description
On 1995P-1DEO-001T the trails rise from the tops of LIBERTY's letters and point straight up the coin toward the rim, an offset direction of 000°, due north. The code is TrailDies shorthand: 1995P is the year with Philadelphia's mint letter, 1 the one-cent denomination, DEO a design extension on the obverse, 001 its place in the files, and the final T says trails. Both dies were late in their lives on the coin TrailDies describes. On the obverse, one crack runs out into the field from the lower left of the E in LIBERTY and a second passes through the G of GOD; the reverse shows nothing of note. Trails are generally credited to the die being polished with a rotary buff, although a minority view puts them down to the die moving against the hub.
