1995 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

1995-D WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse on the 1995-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a Class II spread toward the rim. It is visible on the date, on the mint mark and on BERTY in LIBERTY, and it adds extra thickness to IN GOD WE TRUST, the E in WE most of all. The lower right of the R in TRUST shows close tripling. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) lies south of the B in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a light scratch follows the rim through the lower UN of UNITED and continues to the O in ONE. Billy G. Crawford submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 4-O-II and Crawford as CDDO-006; its Coppercoins number is 1995D-1DO-004.
