Description
Moderate to strong fluting line extension, into the stylobate under columns 1, 2, 3, 11 and 12. Strong step deviation under columns 5 through 8. Also noted is some corner extension into the left stylobate, along with extension from the left URN. These pictures are of Stage “B”. Stage “C” has a large retained die break in the middle of the stairs. Stage “C” has a large retained die break in the middle of the stairs. While there is a little bit of fade between the Stage “B” (MDS) and the Stage “C” (LDS), the trail lines from the bottom of the letters in the EPU and the periods remain fairly constant and moderately strong. DIE MAKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS. Die gouge under IN. Reverse is MDS – die gouge in the bottom of bay 1. Small die gouge to the right of the designers initials Stage “C”, obverse is LDS. Reverse is TERMINAL. Retained die break (II-E-6) is seen in the stairs.
