1994 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-004WS Trail Die Reverse
Error
Description
For 1994P-1DER-004WS, TrailDies records moderate fluting extension into the stylobate below columns 2, 3, 10 and 11, so the effect appears at both ends of the building, together with moderate wavy steps under the four middle columns, 5 to 8. All of it runs due south, 180°. Wavy steps are trail lines over the stairs of the Lincoln Memorial that leave them looking warped. Read in order, the code is year (1994), mint (P), denomination (1, the cent), side (DER, TrailDies' design extension reverse), file (004) and type (WS). The stage B coin has no markers listed on either side, so the four affected fluting columns are the guide. Such lines are generally traced to polishing of the die, and a minority view connects them to die-to-hub movement.
