Description

Found by George dePozsgay, 1994P-1DEO-012T is a trail die obverse on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent with light trails off LIBERTY going south-southwest at an offset direction of 197 degrees — a distinctly different vector from the west and northwest offsets that characterize most other entries in this series. Die markers: Stage B, obverse is early-to-mid die state (EMDS) with a small die gouge east of the E in WE. Reverse is late die state (LDS) with a number of small die gouges around FG and the T in CENT, a gouge in bay 4, and die gouges between D and S as well as between T and A of UNITED STATES. The asymmetric die state pairing is inverted from the typical pattern — here the reverse is more worn than the obverse, suggesting the reverse die had prior service with a different obverse before being paired with this relatively fresh obverse die. Cataloged by Trail Dies.
