1994P-1DEO-009T Trail Die Obverse
Error
Description
In late die state at Stage C, 1994P-1DEO-009T is a trail die obverse on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent with die damage concentrated on the lower portion of Lincoln's bust on the obverse. The reverse carries a die dent in bay 7. While the trail characteristics define the variety's classification, the obverse die damage on the lower bust serves as the primary attribution marker — a feature that would be visible even on specimens where the trail impressions have been softened by wear or weakened by late die state deterioration. The pairing of a LDS obverse with a LDS reverse indicates that both dies in this pair were approaching the end of their service life when the trail die specimens were produced. Cataloged by Trail Dies.
