1994 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-006T Trail Die Obverse

Description

1994P-1DEO-006T carries light trails in LIBERTY, some letters looking slightly thickened, offset at 280°, a little north of due west. In the number, 1994P gives the date and Philadelphia mint, the 1 means one cent, DEO an obverse design extension, 006 the file, and T the trail type. TrailDies records two die states. Stage B, a middle state that turned up later, adds lines from IN GOD and has a small gouge just left of the L in LIBERTY. Stage C, late in the die's life, shows a small gouge below the U of UNITED and a crack between the U and N of UNUM on the reverse. Jeremy Gardner found the die. Trails are commonly credited to rotary polishing of the working die; others suggest the die moved against the hub.
