1994 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-004T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Light trails sit on the lower left corners of LIBER in LIBERTY on 1994P-1DEO-004T, with an offset direction of 190°, just west of due south. Reading the number: 1994 Philadelphia, 1 for the cent, DEO meaning an obverse design extension, file 004, and the T suffix for trails. The coin TrailDies records is at stage C, a late-middle die state, and diagonal die scratches cover much of its obverse, heaviest beneath WE. On the reverse, a die clash in bay 7 goes along with those abrasions on the other side. Bill Slaughter found the die. Such lines are generally traced to polishing of the die, and a minority view connects them to die-to-hub movement.

Die Markers

• Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – diagonal die scratching is seen on most of the obverse, with the heaviest being under the word WE.
• Reverse is LMDS – a die clash is seen in bay 7, which goes hand in hand with the die abrasions  seen on the obverse.
