Description
Two slightly different directions show on 1994P-1DEO-003T. The trails from LIBERTY run at 100°, a touch south of due east, while those on the date run at 090°, straight to the right; TrailDies says the difference between the two sets is plain to see. Its number names a cent (1) of 1994 from Philadelphia (P), with DEO for an obverse design extension, 003 for the file and T for trails. Mary Fantauzzo of New York found the die. The coin on file is a stage B example, middle in the die's life, marked by a scratch in front of Lincoln's eyes and more scratching from under his chin down to the bow tie; nothing is listed for the reverse. Most specialists blame die polishing with a rotary tool for trails, while some look instead to the die moving against the hub.
