1989 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-007 Trail Die Reverse

Description

1989D-1DER-007 is a minor trail die on a 1989 Denver cent reverse, with lines only on the N and E of ONE, offset at 330°, northwest, toward the upper left. The number has no letter suffix after the file; the parts it does have are the 1989D date and mint, the denomination 1, DER for TrailDies' design extension reverse and 007 for the file. At middle die state the reverse has no markers, but the obverse has a gouge near the rim just right of the last T in TRUST. Bob Piazza found it. Trails are commonly ascribed to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some ascribe them to the die moving against the hub.
